He studied visual arts for five years (DEC and BAC in visual arts) and pursued and obtained his DEC in Dance-Interpretation in 2007 from the École de danse de Québec. Since then, through a accumulation of multidisciplinary experience and practice, he approaches movement by dedicating his daily life to dance. His goal is to bring together these disciplines in a common space in service of movement.

He has presented his choreographic work in Canada and around the world: “Suite pour trois assiettes” (2003), “Le blé près de chez nous” (2004), “L’après-midi-oiseaux” (2006), “Dany and Me too” (2009), “Chaudières, déplacements et paysages” (2010), “Là-bas, le lointain” (2012), “Ravages” (2015), “Les caveaux” (2016), “Le cri des méduses” (2018), “Gratter la pénombre” (2020), and “L’effritement des parades” (2021).

In his artistic approach, Alan Lake incorporates dance films that he directs: “Battement Bleu” (2003) and “9 Minutes, 2 Fois” (2004), which won the Audience Award at Vidéastes Recherchés, “Chaudières, déplacements et paysages” (2009), “Là-bas, le lointain” (2012), “Jardins Catastrophe” (2014), “Ravages” (2015), “L’étreinte des Valkyries” (2019), and “Parades” (2022).
