"When the lights dim but the music keeps rising, I find myself truly on the edge of my seat, wondering what will happen next. What new marvel could Lake have in store for us?" - The Dance Current

After “Là-bas, le lointain,” “Ravages,” and “Les caveaux,” Alan Lake continues his multidisciplinary approach by intertwining his choreographic language and sensitivity to visual arts in a piece for 9 dancers and a live musician. Inspired by Géricault’s “The Raft of the Medusa” and the state of emergency experienced by the shipwreck survivors in the famous painting, “Le cri des méduses” unfolds in an imagined location, propelling us into a terrifying dreamscape. A physically intense dance, akin to a pagan ritual, is disrupted by the impactful imagery of the scenography. “Le cri des méduses” is an awakened dream, a dance of (sur)vival.
